In the voice over service, understandable reading, consistent recording and correct delivery are as important as a nice sound. Advertising, training videos, phone answering and narration carry different expectations. Start by choosing a field of application and create a short, original demo.
Demo should show real recording quality
Read a short text you wrote or have permission to use in two different tones. Listen to the background noise, echoes, letters exploding and sound levels. Instead of a demo that hides the flaws with over-effects, show the quality you can offer your customer. Don't do business by impersonating another artist's voice or identity.
Your first trial: step by step
Produce a 30-second sample recording. Listen through your headphones and phone speakers, check the wording.
- Get the text length and target time.
- Clear tone, pronunciation list and file format.
- Write the text subsequently modified by the edit as a separate scope.
Costs and pricing
Do not price the work solely by the minutes of recorded speech. Record preparation, editing, file splitting and usage rights are also included in the price. Use in a company's internal training is not the same as use in a paid advertising campaign. Specify the duration, country, medium and advertising use in your bid; calculate your own labor and rights coverage instead of the current market price.
Before publishing or applying
Make it clear whether your voice can be used for AI training, cloning or new text generation. Such use requires separate and informed consent. Clear the terms of raw records, title rights and time extensions before delivery.
