Value in content writing comes from answering the reader's question correctly and understandably, not from filling up a certain number of words. A blog post, product description and email text are different deliverables. In your first portfolio, have two examples of research on a subject you know well.
Get a brief before you start writing.
The target audience, purpose, key question, tone, source expectation and delivery format should be clear. For example, in a post describing the first tent selection for a camping equipment business, you could explain the budget, usage environment and transportation needs. Do not reuse another site’s article by merely changing its wording.
Your first trial: step by step
There are draft headings for a topic; write down which question each chapter answers. Handle unnecessary repetitions at this stage.
- Find primary sources and verify the allegations.
- Complete the first draft with an original example.
- Check the heading, entry, link and last read.
Costs and pricing
Only the price per word can hide the research time. Calculate the interview, source search, drafting, editing and revision together. For example, if writing takes two hours, research two hours, and editing one hour, then you'll have to count five hours. Specify whether the price includes access to visual design or content management system.
Before publishing or applying
